Friendship

Making friends is hard. I’d like to say that it’s just my season of life or the fact that I just moved to a new city, but really—no matter what season of life you’re in and what city you move to, friendship doesn’t always start out easily. Because I’ve worked with students for awhile now, […]

I’m not yet 30, but I’m old enough to remember dial-up connections and AOL Instant Messenger, “away messages” to let people know when you were away from your computer, arguing with siblings over who got to use the computer to “get online,” and then arguing again when your time was up because you were in […]

When Stress Changes Our Plans In 2015, my Labor Day did not go according to plan. Instead of spending an enjoyable day with friends, I sat in an emergency care center learning that I had shingles. One of the diagnostic questions the doctor asked me was if I had recently been under significant stress to […]

“I saved a seat for you!” These words from my new friend were exactly what I needed to hear to take a deep breath and relax. Just moments before, I had been sitting in my car and very seriously considering just going home. As a generally outgoing person, I was embarrassed by how nervous I […]

Dear College Girl, Dear College Girl is a 31-day devotional to encourage current or soon-to-be college girls to live godly lives in school. We asked five women to contribute to this book—women who walked through college seeking to honor Jesus and glorify Him. Each letter contains wisdom from Scripture, personal experience, and godly insight on […]

The ultimate resolution in the life of the believer is simply stated in these two commands. Love God, and love others. Our New Years Resolutions may change from year to year, but if you are a believer in Christ and are being transformed in His image, then hopefully the heart of your goals each year […]

Ten years ago I packed my bags and headed into the unknown world commonly known as college. My heart was both filled with anticipation and joy that was mingled with fear and anxiety. After living 18 years under my parents roof, the thought of living elsewhere and being on my own was exciting and nerve-wracking. I had waited my entire life for this moment. I remember as a young girl thinking that once I reached my college years I would feel like an adult. The opposite was true! I felt even younger walking onto that large campus and sitting in classes with hundreds of other students! I couldn’t wait for my college years to come, but once they arrived I felt completely unprepared.

Walk In Grace. It sounds nice. But what does it really mean? I think walking in grace is all about recognition followed by application. We have to have an open heart to recognize the graces God has given us – both the ultimate grace of forgiveness through salvation, and the subtle graces of goodness He’s […]
