What We Believe

We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. It is without error and never changes. The Bible is trustworthy, true, and what we build our entire life upon. We affirm all sixty-six books of the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. As women of God, we treasure the Bible and seek to live out what we read and study each day in loving obedience to our God. (2 Tim. 3:15–17; 2 Pet. 1:19–21)

God's word

We believe that God has always been and always will be. He is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (always with us), and omnipotent (all-powerful). He created the entire universe and humankind, and he holds all things together. He is one God existing in three persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—referred to as the Trinity. (Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4)

God

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life on earth as both fully God and fully man. He died on the cross, taking on our sin and punishment, so we can have new life and a right relationship with God. After being crucified, he rose from the dead three days later, appearing to his disciples before ascending to heaven. He now sits at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus is coming back again to rule and establish his kingdom on earth. (John 1:1–18; Col. 1:13–22)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. After Jesus ascended into heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper, Counselor, and Comforter. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and equips the believer for ministry and life. The Holy Spirit lives inside all believers and testifies to the will of God. He sanctifies and seals believers (Gen. 1:2; Acts 1:8, Eph. 1:13–14)

holy spirit

We believe that salvation is only through Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our own good deeds but through Jesus' righteousness and shed blood on the cross. All humans are born sinners and desperately in need of a Savior. Christ came to rescue us from our sins and offer atonement for us. (Rom. 3:23; Rom. 10:9; Eph. 2:8–9)

salvation

We believe that the church is the body of Christ that is called to live out God's mission by making disciples of all nations through word and action. The church is not a place, but rather the body of believers. We also believe that members of this universal body of believers should become members of a local church where they can take part in church ordinances (especially baptism and communion) and grow in discipleship through community. (Matt. 28:19–20; 1 Cor. 10:17; Col. 1:8; 1 Pet. 5:1–5)

the church

We believe that marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman. The marriage bed is sacred and sex is a gift of God between a husband and wife in the confines of marriage. We believe that the wife should love and submit to her husband as the church loves and submits to Christ. We also believe that the husband should love his wife as Christ laid down his life for the church. (Eph. 5:22–33)

marriage

We believe that we are all made in the image of God, no matter our gender, ethnicity, ability, social class, or culture. Therefore, all humans are worthy of honor and dignity and vital to the church. God made humans male and female according to their birth. Because of Adam and Eve's sin in the fall, all humans are born sinners in desperate need of God's grace and forgiveness to escape the just wrath of a holy God. God's purpose for us is to bring glory to God in all that we do through growing in faith and grace as we grow in a personal relationship with him. (Gen 1:23, 27; Matt. 28:19–20; 1 Cor. 10:31; Rom. 3:23)
