Savor the Savior this Advent
The final months of the year are highlighted by wonderful things to engage the senses. The first hints of fall usher in spiced beverages, pumpkin baked goods, scarves and sweaters, the crunch of leaves, and long-awaited cool breezes. Then winter brings peppermint and eggnog and cocoa, sipped slowly. Fires blaze in hearths while snow swirls outside. These are the seasons of the fuzziest blankets and tastiest treats. Delights such as these invite us to linger longer, to engage our senses and practice savoring.
To savor something is to enjoy it to the fullest, resisting the urge to rush past and instead to pause and relish its goodness. Savoring seasonal goodies like cider and scented candles points us to something infinitely better: we are invited to savor our Savior, Jesus Christ. The psalmist, in Psalm 34:8, calls God’s people to “taste and see that the LORD is good!” And a primary way we see and savor Christ is in the Bible. Beholding Jesus in his living, active Word will transform our perspective in this world.
Savor Christ With Us
This December, we invite you to enjoy Jesus in his Word through our new Advent study, Savor the Savior: 31 Days of Adoration. Amid a season often marked by busyness, this study provides daily opportunities to slow down, reflect, respond, and savor the goodness of Jesus.
We will follow the narrative of Christ’s birth in the opening chapters of Luke, and follow gospel threads throughout Scripture inviting us to behold Christ and savor him. Unlike many Advent studies, Savor the Savior continues through the end of December so we can approach the new year praising his glorious name together. We pray that as you study with us and savor Christ this Christmas, your awe and adoration of him will develop into a holy habit that extends far beyond this season.
Allll the Savory Details:
When will the collection be available? Our brand new Advent collection will be available for pre-order October 5-16. We will have a very limited amount of additional studies in the Shop after pre-orders, so be sure to order between October 5-16 for guaranteed availability.
What is the study about? This year, we're inviting you to Savor the Savior as we prepare our hearts for Christmas. We've used the stanzas from O Come, Let Us Adore Him to shape the study. Each week we'll look at Scripture that corresponds with each stanza of the song (O come, let us adore him // For he alone is worthy // Let's praise his name forever // We'll give him all the glory).
When will we go through the study? We'll begin our study December 1 and end December 31. We'll share encouragement on Instagram, the blog, and the Facebook Community Group.
Can I do this study with a group? Yes! We love it when women choose to walk through our studies together. The format for each day of study is a devotion based on Scripture with questions to answer, a closing 'Savor the Savior' section for each day. There is also a weekly meditation at the end of each week you could memorize together.

We pray this study blesses you abundantly as you are challenged to draw near to Christ this Advent. May we remember pausing to savor our Savior more than we worry about the gifts we give or receive or the busyness of plans we make this Christmas. Let's Savor the Savior together, friend!
