Resources for Miscarriage, Infant Loss, and Infertility
Mother’s Day can be painful for many of us. Some are grieving, others are longing, many are waiting and hoping. Two our our team members, Kristin and Amelia, have shared their stories about infertility and infant loss on the Well-Watered blog. They have also graciously compiled resources that have been helpful to them in navigating these seasons. We pray these books, articles, songs, scriptures, and gift ideas will encourage you, remind you that you are not alone, and point you to the imperishable hope we have in Christ.
Books
Books have been an important tool in my own grief journey. Attaching words to feelings is an important part of navigating and processing grief. It gives a sense of direction or meaning when life feels upended and many feel powerless. This is tough work, though, when grief is raw and the mind is muddled by numbness and shock. To see others eloquently articulate that which I was not yet able provided some framework for healing. –Amelia

Articles
In a digital age with countless resources at our fingertips, praise God for biblically-minded writers we can turn to for help in our seasons of hardship. What a gift that we can trust theologically sound authors and their publications to be a source of counsel and mentorship in some of the darkest times in our lives. When we struggle to talk about our private pain out loud, it can help to find someone else out there that just gets it. Someone who can write with candor, humor, vulnerability, and spiritual insight into issues that just feel too heavy for discussion with other humans sometimes. Blogs and articles can be one of the safest places to receive help and healing for free, and with no fear of judgement in the process. They can be the starting place one needs for finding victory in their battle. –Kristin

Scripture
When we’re searching for hope, nothing compares to the God-breathed words of Scripture. We’re told in 2 Timothy 3:16–17 that all scripture is “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (NIV). We find the heart and will of our Good Father spilled out on every page of His Word. When we search Scripture in our darkest times, it never disappoints; it will never return void, but will accomplish what He desires (Isaiah 55:11). We can turn to the Bible for relevant and timeless wisdom, direction, guidance, and hope. The stories of His love and faithfulness displayed throughout the Old and New Testament will fill our hungry hearts with fresh faith and hope as we navigate the difficulties of this life. And, by His grace and great design, His Spirit will equip us with all that we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) as we seek Him daily. –Kristin
Empathy
So often, in the longing for motherhood or wake of loss, people shy away—not because they don't care or won’t sympathize, but because they don't know what to say. What has been most comforting to me are the friends and family that have simply made themselves available. They haven't tried to provide deep words of wisdom or tired clichés; rather they've walked alongside me with listening ears and revealed their own hurting and broken hearts for our loss and struggle. Below are some beautiful, meaningful gifts that would bless a friend or loved as you walk with them through seasons of loss and unfulfilled longings. –Amelia
