The joy of the Lord is my strength. Not my second cup of coffee. Not my own abilities, time at the gym, or a full night of rest. It is his joy that surpasses any trial, any feeling, and any emotion. His joy is a fortress of rest, a shelter from the sun, and a shield from the enemy's attacks. It helps me keep going when I want to quit, strengthens my weary body and soul, and transforms my perspective.
This day, lean into his joy and keep your eyes on Jesus. It is joy in Jesus that enables you to thrive, not survive, this week. May you embrace all that you have in Christ and live from his abundance, remembering this: God’s presence is a promise, and fullness of joy is your eternal hope.
Leaning into his joy,
Gretchen

What is the Give Me Jesus Journal and how is it formatted?
The Give Me Jesus Journal is a Bible study journal that helps you dig into the Word of God. It features 90 days of journaling space with daily sections to Study the Word, Apply the Word, Memorize the Word, and Pray the Word.
What's new about the Give Me Jesus Journal this year?
Your favorite Give Me Jesus Journal is back with some brand-new updates!
- Two beautiful new cover options, English Garden and Mountain Meadow
- Updated introduction that teaches a more in-depth Bible study process to help you study God’s Word on your own
- Updated daily layout that incorporates spiritual disciplines in two new sections: a prayer prompt before you Study the Word and a Memorize the Word section
- A verse from the Psalms for each entry to help you set your heart on the Lord (the English Garden cover features verses from Psalms 1–85 and the Mountain Meadow cover features verses from Psalms 86–150—get both to walk through the entire book of Psalms!)
What is the daily layout like?
The daily layout provides structure so you can open the Bible to any passage and study it on your own. It incorporates spiritual disciplines meant to draw your heart near to your Savior as you study the Bible. See the Look Inside the Journal section of our Give Me Jesus Journal page to see how to fill out the daily layout.
How long does it take to fill out each day?
Depending on the passage you choose and how much you write, the time it takes to fill out the daily layout will vary. On average, it takes the women on our team about 30 minutes.
How long is the journal?
It includes 90 days of journaling space. It’s undated so you can start it at any time, and you don’t have to fill it out in a consecutive 90 days.
Do I use the Scripture at the beginning of each entry as the verse to study that day?
The first page of each journal entry begins with a verse from the Psalms to serve as an encouragement to set your heart on the Lord. It’s not intended to be the passage you study that day, although you could use it as a prompt to study the entire psalm in the Study the Word section to study through all 150 psalms using both journal covers.
How do I choose what to study in the Study the Word section?
We encourage you to choose a book of the Bible to study through, breaking it down into short passages to read and study each day. Studying within the context of an entire book of the Bible enhances your understanding of the text.
How can I use my journal to take sermon notes?
The Give Me Jesus Journal is wonderful to use for sermon notes. Fill out the Date, Time, and Place section with the details of your church service. Use the Study the Word section to take notes as your pastor preaches. Add the passage of Scripture your pastor is teaching from in the Today’s Verses spot. Fill out the What I’m learning about God and the gospel section either during or after the sermon as a way to summarize the message.
