I have always been a dreamer. Ever since I was a little girl my mind has always been in another world imagining what could be… Those dreams haven’t changed and I am still usually in another world dreaming of what could be. This time one of those dreams is coming to life. It is actually happening and it is taking much prayer, hard work and vulnerability. I can’t wait to reveal what it is!
But right now I need your help!!ย Comment below with your answers to the following question:

  • Tell me your favorite quote(s) and/or verse(s).
  • What does the statement “give me Jesus” mean to you?
  • What does your quiet time look like each day?

Each person who comments will be entered in a drawing. One person will receiveย a special Lifeย Lived Beautifully gift! Share with your friends. Let’s encourage one another through Scripture and words of life today!

I can’t wait to hear your heart! Thank you for helping this dream come true!

Love,

Gretchen

My favorite verse is John 3:30, He must become greater, I must become less. The statement “give me Jesus” kind of goes hand in hand with my favorite verse. I don’t ever want to become dependent on myself. I always want to have that desire to know Jesus more, be with him more, and the desire to seek him more. More of Jesus, less of me!

And I believe I’ve answered the 3rd question on your instagram! ๐Ÿ™‚ But, my quiet times are filled with journaling my prayers and thoughts and diving into a passage of the Bible.

Because He bends down to listen I will pray as long as I have breath. Psalm 116:2
Give me Jesus……when storms are raging or waters are still I want Jesus by my side, in my corner, standing next to me holding me up or holding my hand.

Right now I am going through the book Jesus calling and reading through the verses that are listed each day and praying for the day ahead.

  5. “Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!” -Lamentations 3:22-23
To me, “give me Jesus” is almost a visual picture in my mind. I literally feel like when I meditate on that statement, that I am dry, on the absolute moment of death from thirst and that He is a never ending flow of cool, fresh water that instantly revives me. That satisfies me, and gives me more than I need. Because He is good.

Every morning I wake up about an hour give or take before my family and have my quiet time downstairs on the sofa, curled up with a fuzzy blanket. It is really the only time my house is silent all day, and it is sweet, precious time to me! I am in BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) so I do my daily lesson as we work through a book of the bible each year, then I spend a long portion in prayer, just conversing with Jesus ๐Ÿ™‚ Many mornings there are tears…prayer is very intimate to me and where I pour everything out for the Lord. He’s so good to listen to me ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to see what you will be doing on here!

Heather, you have truly encouraged me in so many ways! I love your heart and how your life and your family displays the Gospel in real life. Plus I love that word picture you gave. I can imagine it in my mind. Dry bones coming to life. So good!

Psalm 37:4-5 โ€“ Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
Aaron Keys – Based on Psalm 62 –
My soul finds rest in God alone, My Rock and my salvation
    O praise Him, hallelujah, My Delight and my Reward;
Everlasting, never failing, My Redeemer, my God.

The phrase โ€œgive me Jesusโ€ reminds me of the constant choice we must make to choose Christ over this word. It also makes me think of John 14:27 โ€“ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to youโ€ฆ

My quiet time changes daily because of medication side effects, but I keep up on a chronological Bible reading plan by listening to it via YouVersion!

  9. Hey! So excited to be in the draw!
I have too many favourite verses and quotes, but right now I’m focusing on Psalm 86:11 – Teach me your way Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness, give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name. SO much to chew on in that little verse: being teachable in everyday moments, relying on Him alone, being single-minded in purpose, and fearing and honouring His name above all else.

To me the phrase “give me Jesus’ means holding onto the world and possessions and problems loosely; that by seeking to treasure Jesus more and more, I will treasure the world less. My purpose is to glorify Him and proclaim His praise, so ‘give me Jesus’ means I let go of everything else, and reach towards the goal, towards the author and perfector of my faith, towards the hope and salvation of my life.

I also answered the third question via instagram, but in a nutshell I have my quiet time during my daughters naptime. I read and journal and then pray through what I’ve recorded. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. It will be said on that day, โ€œBehold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.โ€ (Isaiah 25:8, 9 ESV)
“Give me Jesus”, to me, means that though the earth itself may pass away and all I know be destroyed, I still have cause to rejoice because of the name of Jesus. He’s all I want and all I need to get by. So take everything else from me, I don’t mind, just give me Jesus– He’s more than enough.

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t spend nearly as much quiet time with the Lord as my heart longs for. I don’t set aside the time that He deserves from me. But in His mercy, He gives me moments, as I go about my busyness, in which He reveals different aspects of Himself to me, and I am awestruck by His beauty and love. These moments come throughout the day, as I read or watch people or experience something beautiful. And no matter where I am at the time or what is going on around me, these moments bring me to a place of worship.

  13. -2 Corinthians 3:18, Hebrews 6:19, Philippians 2:3-5, & lately, “May our hearts make Jesus their anchor, their rudder, their lighthouse, their life boat, & their harbor.” (Spurgeon)
-“give me Jesus” – fully surrendering to the point where there is nothing I want more than I want Jesus.

-It looks different in different phases of life for me. Normally, choosing a book of the Bible to go through & journaling, or doing a She Reads Truth devotional. This year my husband & I are reading the One Year bible so that has been a lot of my devotional time, in addition to some She Reads Truth & some other books I’m reading.

Lindsey, thank you so much for commenting! I love this! I actually used your quote in the journal. That one is so powerful! I read through the Bible chronologically last year and it changed my life. Seeing the story in one piece was so powerful, and it helped me understand how the old and new testaments are connected by Jesus. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you and your husband are growing closer to Christ and each other through your study!

  15. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Give me Jesus – He is all I need. Period. Nothing else can compare, satisfy, fulfill, or love me the way that He does.

My quiet time – Well, that varies. Recently, I’ve been watching the IF:EQUIP devotionals Monday through Friday, I usually read a devotional (or two), and hopefully spend some time in Scripture. Prayer is lacking, which was been disappointing to me, though. And then some days, I hit the ground running and have none. I work on a Bible study sometimes in the morning, if it’s not late and I don’t need to get going on something else.

Dianne, thank you so much for sharing! The Lord reminded me the other day that I must be praying as a part of my time with Him (and without ceasing!). I just listened to an Elisabeth Elliot talk about prayer and she said that some of the best things to pray are God’s Word, Psalms and hymns. I am going to start doing that as part of my quiet time. ๐Ÿ™‚ So thankful for you!
