At Well-Watered Women, we believe in the importance of cheering on other women in the body of Christ as they follow Him with reckless abandon. We are committed to not only bringing you our own resources and content that stirs your affections for Jesus, but also to point you to other women who have that same passion. It is a joy to watch women all over the world using their gifts to serve others and share about the grace that has radically changed their lives. One women who has made an impact in my own life as well as the lives of thousands of other women is Ruth Simons of GraceLaced.
Ruth is a mother to six boys (yes, you read that right!), wife to Troy, and owner and creator of GraceLaced. Not only is she incredibly gifted at painting, she writes words that meet you right where you are and bring gospel hope with them. A few years ago I interviewed Ruth in our previous “A Life Lived Beautifully” series and she wrote these words of encouragement to all women:
“If you love Christ and he’s paid your ransom, your identity is in Him alone. Stop striving to find your worth in worthless things. No clothes you wear, friend you make, applause you receive, goal you attain…will every complete you the way your soul needs to be filled. And the reality is, we simply can’t know who he is and his great love for us without reading it from his Word. So dig in and preach truth to yourself. Nothing defines you, sister, more than this simple truth: You belong to Jesus.” (Read more of her interview from 2015 here)
These words from Ruth sum up her heart for women: that we would learn that Christ is more than enough and daily live in His abundance by preaching the truth of the gospel to our hearts. Her new book that releases today, GraceLaced Book, is an extension of this teaching. The tagline of the book is “Discovering timeless truths through seasons of the heart.” Throughout the book she breaks down each season (winter, spring, summer, fall) and relates them to the grace that has been laced throughout the seasons of life. She says that finding God’s grace in the day-to-day “begins with resting in who He is, builds by rehearsing the truth He says about you, blossoms as we respond in faith to those truths, and is sustained by remembering His provision.” (page 9)
Throughout this 31-day devotional are timeless truths that have been illustrated through Ruth’s paintings, writings, and photography. This is a book that will find a home in your heart and on your coffee table for years to come. You can find the GraceLaced book here and watch a video trailer below to hear more of Ruth’s heart.
We pray that this resource blesses you and encourages you in your walk with the Lord and look forward to sharing more “well-watered resources” in the coming days!
yours in Christ,
Gretchen
