Two weeks ago we began a series called “Well-Watered Women” diving deep into practical ways we can study the Bible! You can catch up on the posts here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and Part 5. This week, we are going to continue this series with more ways we can not only study Scripture, but begin to live it out and arrange our life and our days around the truths of the Word. Today, we will focus on our response to studying God’s Word. We should not only be readers and studiers of the Bible, but we should also be doers.

Take a moment to simply stop. I know you might be a blog reader like me who skims and goes from one page to the next. But this time, I am asking you to simply slow down. I recognized recently in my own walk with God that I have been falsely attempting to spend moments of stillness with Him. In the busyness of church, owning a business, growing a baby and preparing for him to arrive in May, moving to a new home, and being a wife, sister, daughter, and friend, I’ve fallen prey to the “I’m busy for Jesus” excuse. You may know the exact feeling. Your schedule is filled with good things, but is missing the best thing – sitting at the feet of Jesus and praying fervently and expectantly in His name.

Today we are digging deep into our insecurities in studying God’s Word and what the Bible says in response to our questions. We “drink deep from the Well” of God’s Word because only it can satisfy our thirsty hearts. In today’s video and post, we will first study the basics of why we study the Word and how we come to the Word.

At the beginning of 2015, the Lord pressed on my heart a deep calling to be in His Word daily and to learn to abide in Christ as Jesus commands in John 15. The specific call was to “love God’s Word more than this world.” It still sets my heart on fire just for my fingers to type it! As I’ve shared about this desire and calling from the Lord, I have had countless women contact me asking how this is practically done. How do we actually love God’s Word more than the world? How do we rise in the morning and only desire Jesus? How do we live as a well-watered woman who is satisfied in Christ alone?

The Lord has been challenging my heart lately with this question. I dug up this post from last fall and was convicted and challenged once again. I pray that you are as well as we ask ourself the question – what if?

Most days we live are pretty ordinary. Wake up, drink coffee, read your Bible, get ready for work, work, eat, exercise, eat, visit friends, read, sleep. This would look extremely different if you have children, but you get the picture. The mountaintop experiences aren’t the norm, the valleys are. The valleys are the places in life where we just walk. We walk and walk and walk without seeing a new sight or getting to a new path. Everything around us seems strangely familiar and we keep looking out for the next turn towards a big adventure.

My hands were completely a mess. I was in the backyard with all my paints, pencils, and sketchbook. Everything around me was ravishing and eagerly waiting to be brought to life through pen and paper. The dirt I sat on didn’t phase me as I gazed at the flowers in my dad’s tiny garden and drew the spectacular beauty before me. These were no Monet paintings, but they were made form the very depths of who I was. They brought my heart to life. They were me.  As a little girl, creativity was my identity. In school I wasn’t known for my basketball skills (which are literally non-existent), but for my art skills. I hung out with my art teacher and worked on projects with her during our breaks. I embraced every poster project as an opportunity to make something beautiful. I will never forget doing a project on Mother Teresa in middle school. I painted a watercolor portrait of Mother Teresa on white poster board as if it were my chance to show the world the beauty of this woman’s life through paper and brush.

Frosty windows once changed my life. Rewind three years ago to December 31, 2011. At the end of each year, my mom, sister, and I look back at the previous year and thank God for what He did, as well as pray big prayers for our family for the upcoming year. This has become one […]

When I was a little girl, I would come into the kitchen and often find my momma talking to herself. I always loved catching her in the act (and still do:). Throughout the years she has faithfully taught me speak truth over the lies that Satan whispers into our ears. As a matter of fact, just this morning she was speaking truth over my weary heart. The cycle was starting again. I was listening to the lies of the Enemy and doubting what God had called me to do.
