We are over halfway through Redefined as we begin week four tomorrow. You can follow along over on Instagram , here on the Blog, and through the Community Group on Facebook . Our sold-out Redefined studies will be back in stock next week!

Week Four Day One | Already, But Not Yet

Read: Colossians 3:1-11, Ephesians 6:10-20

Ask:

  • What do you learn about Christ and your identity from the passage in Colossians?
  • How have you experienced the tension of living in the “already, but not yet”?
  • How does knowing that you are on the winning side change your perspective in your fight for the faith?
  • Write down exactly what the battle is that you face each day (found in the Ephesians passage) and the specific armor that God has provided.
  • Put on your armor today, and live with your eyes on Jesus, using the Ephesians passage as your prayer for strength.

Week Four Day Two | Slaves, Now Free

Read: Isaiah 61:1-4, Ephesians 2:2, John 8:31-36, Romans 6:15-23, 2 Timothy 1:7

Ask:

  • According to the passage in Isaiah, write down the reasons for Jesus’ coming to earth.
  • How do we find freedom according to Jesus? (John 8 passage)
  • What does it mean to be a slave to sin?
  • What do you learn about being a slave from the passage in Romans?
  • How can you be a freedom fighter for the freedom of others?

Week Four Day Three | Nothing, Now Something

Read: 2 Corinthians 4:3-7, Psalm 139:13-14, 2 Timothy 2:20-22, 1 Peter 2:24-25

Ask:

  • What does the 2 Corinthians passage say about Christ and about your identity as a jar of clay?
  • Read the following verses and note what they tell you about being a clay pot:
    • Isaiah 45:9
    • Isaiah 64:8
    • Jeremiah 18:1-6
    • Romans 9:20-21
  • Are there any ways that you complain to God about the way you are made? Confess these things to your Potter, and praise Him for making you fearfully and Wonderfully in His sight (Psalm 139:13-14)
  • How does knowing that you once were “nothing” and just an ordinary clay pot, and now you are “something” in Christ as an extraordinary vessel fit for His use change your perspective on your identity?
  • Read 2 Timothy 2:20-22 and 1 Peter 2:24-25 and answer what these verses teach you about being redefined in Christ.

Remember: Your role is to be the best clay pot you can be for the kingdom while allowing Jesus to simultaneously shine His glory through your cracks and broken pieces.

Week Four Day Four | Inadequate, Now Qualified

Read: Colossians 1:3-14, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, Colossians 2:9-10

Ask:

  • What do verses 12-14 in the Colossians 1 passage reveal about how Christ has redeemed your inadequacy? What should your response be?
  • 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 describes the fight for our thoughts as a battle. We are at war. Read these verses and write down what it means to fight the battle for your thoughts.
  • Write Colossians 2:9-10 and answer how this truth makes you feel.
  • To end the day, write a note to Insecurity, telling it that it is no longer welcome in your life. Break ties with this pretend friend because you’ve been set free and qualified by the blood of Jesus.

Week Four Day Five | Darkness, Now Light

Read: John 1:1-5, Isaiah 9:2, John 8:12, 1 John 1:5-10, Matthew 5:14-16

Ask:

  • What do we learn about Jesus from the passage in John 1?
  • Write the prophesy we read about Jesus from Isaiah 9:2.
  • What do you learn about light and darkness in John 8:12?
  • What does it mean to live in the light according to 1 John 1:5-10?
  • What are you afraid to have exposed? What do you try to cover up? Today, confess any sin before the Lord and ask Christ to expose your heart with the gospel and free you from darkness.
  • Read Matthew 5:14-16 and write down what it would look like to live as the “light of the world”, shining brightly the hope of the gospel to a needy world.
