Abundant: A Bible Study on the Fruit of the Spirit
If I were to describe my daily life, I probably wouldn’t use the word abundant. I would be more likely to say overwhelming, busy, or tiring. Abundance feels elusive, crowded out by survival mode, worry, and self-reliance, signaling to me that I’ve turned my eyes from my Savior to myself. Though we all experience seasons of distress, exhaustion, or busyness, when we abide in Christ, the Spirit can still bear abundant fruit in and through us.
Abundance isn’t determined by our circumstances but by our reliance on our Savior. When we bring our tiny seed of faith to him, the Holy Spirit nourishes and cares for it, and from the abundance of his power, he produces fruit that brings God glory. Spiritual abundance is the result of walking in step with the Holy Spirit by holding fast to God’s Word and obeying its commands. My most fruitful seasons occurred when I loved and obeyed God by the power of the Holy Spirit in me, no matter what hard things were happening in my life. No matter what season or circumstance you’re walking through, the Holy Spirit—the third person of God himself—has all power and purpose to tend, cultivate, and bear abundant fruit.

What is Abundant about?
Abundant guides you in studying the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22–23). You’ll study one or two virtues each week and first see how God displays each one, then how he bears that fruit in us as we abide in him.
Abundant will help you:
- Identify the Holy Spirit’s role in our spiritual growth
- Grow in spiritual fruitfulness through diligence powered by God’s grace
- Deepen your love for and trust in the God of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control
- Experience spiritual fruitfulness by discovering the character of God in Scripture
How long is Abundant and what is the format?
Abundant is a six-week in-depth Bible study on the fruit of the Spirit. What to expect:
- Five days of Bible study per week
- Each day takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete
- A daily Abundant Life section with application questions and Scripture memory practice
- Weekly reflections to summarize and apply what you’ve learned
- Bible-centered study to discover the meaning of the text before making application to your current circumstances
- Gospel-rich content to draw your soul into the presence of God
Can I do this study with a group?
Yes! We have a FREE Abundant Leader Guide available for download to help you study God’s Word in your local community. The leader guide walks you through how to facilitate discussion each week. There is also a weekly memory verse your group could memorize together.
How do the verse cards work with the study?
The Abundant Verse Cards correspond to the weekly memory verses so you can use them to help you stay on track with your Scripture memory goals and keep God’s Word fresh on your mind throughout the day. Each 4x4 verse card beautifully displays a verse on the front. On the back, they prompt you to recall the Scripture with the first letter of each word. Memorizing and meditating on Scripture sows God’s Word in your heart, that you may bear good fruit.
Can I use Abundant for Lent?
Yes, every purchase of Abundant includes our Abundant Lent Guide to use from February 12–March 31. It begins the week of Ash Wednesday and will help you focus on the purpose of the Lenten season and choose something to give up for Lent.
