The sky grew black as the sun hid behind the horizon. The entire world was about to change. The disciples had just finishing reclining at the Passover with Jesus and were still thinking about his words. “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” What did Jesus mean? How was […]
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.” ~1 Peter 5:8-9 (emphasis mine) Last October my husband and I traveled twenty-three hours (one […]
Years ago, Mercy Me came out with a song based off of Isaiah 6:4 called “Here am I, Send Me.” As a middle schooler seeking to follow Jesus, I sang these words with all of my heart! However, most days the opposite of being sent would happen. I would encounter trial, discouragement and the obstacle […]

Dear Single Self (& Single Friends), You are not alone. You never were and you never will be. I feel I need to repeat this, you are not alone. In the world of singleness it is easy to feel, well, singled out. Kind of like you are wearing a scarlet letter that say available and alone. You may feel lonely and you may feel hopeless, but don’t allow feelings to direct your steps. God has promised to never leave you or forsake you. Never. He has promised you life that is abundant…today. (John 10:10) Your years are not wasted and your life has already begun. Don’t look ahead to what might be. (Matthew 6:33-34) Be grateful for the beauty of today. Each new moment is a gift from the Lord and is also a trust. How are you using your singleness to bring glory to your Creator?
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as god stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies – in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him […]
“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.” ~1 Peter 4:7-9 Peter connects two integral aspects of the Christian life in this text: […]
“Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.” – 1 Peter 4:1-2 One […]
