Fasting

I was eating only fruits, vegetables, and some whole grains. I felt amazing, had energy like never before, and was learning to appreciate the little things—like fresh strawberries on a hot day and homemade salsa with some warm baked pita bread. I loved it, and I kept thinking, “This is what God must have intended!” […]

Today’s post is a follow-up to yesterday’s post, A Can of Worms. These two posts, written by Ashley Chesnut, address the bondage of sexual addiction. For those of you who are struggling, we are praying for you, and we hope that this post offers you some counsel on the next steps to take towards freedom. […]

The following blog post was written by Ashley Chestnut, Associate Singles Minister at the Church at Brook Hills. We understand that the topic of pornography and sexual stronghold is a deep subject to address and have prayed that this post would open hearts and eyes to see the freedom that can only be found in […]

Planted: Place in the ground so that it can grow, bury, position oneself, establish in one’s mind. The word “planted” conjures up a lot of beautiful images – colorful flowers, fields of fresh plants bursting with life and fruit, strong and sturdy trees. I can imagine their roots going deep and think about the tiny seeds […]

There’s a story of a traveling pastor who came to town and taught at a church about what it meant to follow Jesus. At the end of the night, a man approached the pastor with a concerned look on his face and asked earnestly, “If I follow Jesus, does that mean I have to give […]

Maybe you’re unfamiliar with Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent that follows. I was for the majority of my life! But this season can be a beautiful invitation to the believer to come and worship God as we reflect on our need for a Savior.

We will begin studying “Breathe” next Wednesday, March 1st together. Find all the details for our online study, as well as a free leader guide, here!

Desert seasons are a part of life and are to be expected. As the Christian travels in this world, following Jesus with a cross on their back, mountains, valleys, springs, rivers, and deserts will be encountered. In each season that we walk through, God gives us exactly what we need not only to survive, but also to thrive. He never sends us where He won’t equip us and provide for us. In facing the desert storms that come, we can take a lesson from God’s very creation on how to survive: the cactus.

The season of revival is upon us. In the blink of an eye, tiny sprouts of green will bud on the trees and the drops of color will sprinkle the ground. Spring is coming. My heart races at the thought of spring each year. By the time March comes around, the bare trees and bleak skies have made my heart burn for color and life. The seasons come and go every year, echoing the sound of revival and restoration. For centuries, God has continued His work of redemption in the spring, bring what was once dead back to life. What an incredible picture of the gospel? What a magnificent painting of grace!

The other day I looked down to realize I can no longer see my feet. Our sweet boy has continued to grow and my belly has rounded out over these past few weeks in ways I never dreamed would happen! In all the joys of pregnancy and the hurdles and beauty of a growing belly, I have noticed that not only has my body changed these past nine months, but my priorities have now shifted as well. Just like when I first got married and had to re-prioritize my schedule and daily to-do’s to involve my husband, I am about to embark on another big adventure of re-prioritizing! The moment I saw I had a positive pregnancy test, the Lord began rearranging my schedule.
