Fashion Week

Day five of our “Life Lived Beautifully” Fashion week! Meet Katie Lewis, founder of Dear Mushka, in today’s A Life Lived Beautifully feature!

Welcome to day three of “Life Lived Beautifully” Fashion Week!

Today is our second day of “Life Lived Beautifully” Fashion Week! If you are just now joining us, read our first day’s post here. This post lays the gospel foundation for why we wear clothing. Today we are going to uncover the mystery of modesty. Share what you are learning on social media using #LLBfashionweek. I am praying our hearts would be tender and our vision hopeful as we study about fashion, dress, and the gospel this week!

Today is the first day of our “Life Lived Beautifully” fashion week! You can follow along on Instagram, Periscope, and the blog each day. We will dive deep into how we can dress to bring God glory and magnify the gospel through what we wear. We will also talk about practical ways we can be creative through our clothing as well as have a few giveaways! This is going to be fun! Are you ready? Let’s worship through what we wear.

Welcome to Life Lived Beautifully Fashion Week!

I am excited to feature Jessica Honegger, the founder of Noonday Collection, today! I was able to hear Jessica speak at the Influence Conference last fall and love the vision behind Noonday! Noonday empowers women all over the world to create and provide for their families through making beautiful jewelry and accessories. They marry women’s love for fashion with justice and the power of the gospel in a beautiful way! I have one of the spring line necklaces (the Sonrisa necklace) and absolutely love it! The jewelry Noonday makes is high quality and gives you, as the buyer, an opportunity to share the greater vision of this mission! I know you will be blessed by Jessica’s bravery to step out in faith and start this incredible mission.

Modesty. It’s an age old word that makes most people cringe on the inside, even in the church. Debates about modesty have divided believers while most ideas of its’ meaning have no true Gospel foundation. The term modesty has always seemed to be a mysterious word that is tiptoed around but never grasped or studied. Most people are afraid to embrace the subject and others reject whatever it might mean. When I was younger, the term modesty always brought to mind the picture of a nun or Maria from the Sound of Musicfully covered from head to toe with no color or creativity. This didn’t sit well with my love for fashion!

We are all worshippers. The question is never, am I worshipping? But daily we should ask ourselves,what/who am I worshipping? The definition of worship is “the act of worshipping God or a god.” We either worship the one, True God who is worthy of our affection or we worship little gods that deceive us into thinking they are greater than they are. One area that often gets worshipped in today’s culture is fashion and dress. We place our affections on clothing, things and affirmation (all of which won’t last). We spend countless hours  (and a lot of money) worrying about our looks, our closets and our appearance. Just like Romans 1:24-25, we worship the created and not the Creator.
